Interview with David Lawrence of MasterPac

Q: How did you get started in this business?

A: The desire to go into plastic packaging manufacturing evolved from believing that it could be done more efficiently, quicker and with a higher degree of quality.

I have always felt there was a niche that should be filled by providing a high degree of engineering and design for smaller companies as well as large ones.

Our motto has been that “Every large company started out small”. MasterPac began its existence 25 years ago and through learning our craft to become the best at what we do while maintaining the integrity and respect of our business partners.

Q: Can you describe your customers / what type of customers do you have?

A: Our clients come from all over the spectrum of businesses from small to large and from all walks of life and I am deeply appreciative of each and every one. One day it may be a client with a new idea that needs help in designing a unique package to the next where it may be a President of a multi-million dollar corporation looking for the same. Primarily MasterPac provides retail packaging components for the Automotive, Industrial, Food, Medical, Pet Products and Outdoor industries.

Q: What are some of your “keys to success” in building your customer base?

A: We as a company believe that our customers are our success. We know they have a need and we want to be their solution. Our clients are looking for that special type of service, one that is affordable, provides them with state of the art technologies with quick turnaround times and that is not always based on size. Our goals are to go beyond the norm and exceed expectations in every way possible.

Q: Is there anything about your business that you feel makes it special?

A: Our focus on Customers Service takes priority in providing our clients with the service they deserve in a person to person relationship. Understanding that emailing is a quick efficient way to communicate but never underestimate the value of that “one on one” conversation that gives you an opportunity to forge a lifelong relationships.

Q: Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? In the next ten years?

A: MasterPac’s goal is continue on a road to process improvement in every area whether it may be on the manufacturing side or the sales side. By keeping abreast of the latest innovations and instituting change where appropriate and obtaining and retaining key personnel to make MasterPac the very best it can be. These kind of actions will keep MasterPac on the road to increased sales and customer loyalty.

Retirement??? Not in the cards as I love what our team has accomplished and look forward to the next 25 years!
